Heritage Sites of Astronomy and Archaeoastronomy in the context of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention: Thematic Study no. 2

This, the second ICOMOS–IAU Thematic Study on astronomical heritage, follows on from the first which was published in 2010. It explores a range of sites from prehistoric monuments to modern observatories, and covers traditional practices using star observations for water management through to technological developments for space exploration. There is particular emphasis on the recognition and preservation of the value of dark skies at both cultural and natural sites and landscapes.

This is a joint publication between Ocarina Books and the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
